Sadly, I was not surprised to see yet another motion in the Assembly from the Government talking about reports and studies into sporting facilities in the ACT.
It makes me really frustrated when Labor and the Greens start talking about facilities and infrastructure. Sadly, this is mostly talk – with very little action.
The Canberra Liberals recognise that for too long there has been a reactive approach to facilities and funding in the ACT. Investment has failed to keep pace with population growth and trends in participation.
The delays and endless reports on sporting facilities without timely outcome are shameful. That is why in 2019 I developed the Canberra Liberals sport and recreation policy – FIND YOUR GAME. It provided a ten-year strategic plan, driven by targets and outcomes grounded in what our community wanted and needs to participate in and enjoy an active lifestyle.
